According to a study published by the CDC in 2007, two out of three adults with diabetes die as result of heart disease or stroke. In addition, the diabetic population’s is three times more likely to develop hypertension when compared to the non-diabetic population. The American Lung Association in Iowa is announcing the 2010 training dates and locations for Freedom From Smoking Facilitator Training workshops. Trained facilitators are allowed to teach Freedom From Smoking classes conducted in their workplace or community
Freedom From Smoking (FFS) is a state-of-the-art cessation program developed to help tobacco users at all stages of the quitting process. We will provide you with the necessary tools to properly facilitate the Freedom From Smoking classes.Freedom From Smoking with focus on the following key elements:

*Proper use of smoking cessation medications
*Recovery and grief
*Relapse prevention
*Stress management
*Social support

Exercise Physiology:ACSM Exercise Specialist

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a review for candidates who plan on taking the American College of Sports Medicine Clinical Exercise Specialist certification examination. The format of the workshop provides a nice mix of lecture and hands-on practical stations so that candidates feel comfortable conducting exercise tests and calculating exercise prescriptions for the variety of patients they may see in a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation setting.
Total Workshop Time: Approximately 13 hours over 2 days Prepare for the ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist exam through lecture and practical sessions taught by ACSM experts.
